Art's Tavern

I really liked it here. There was no empty tables inside so we sat outside which was fine. It was a nice day. We ate here on 6/29 at the recommendation of my boyfriend who ate here years ago and enjoyed it very much. I ordered the Art's cheeseburger and my boyfriend ordered the bacon cheeseburger. Both were amazingly good. We ordered a side of onion rings which were alright. Those were a la carte, I wish the burgers came with their own side. Our server was super nice; we liked him a lot. It was cash only which is annoying when you're used to paying with a debit card/credit card. We're from down state/southeast Michigan and there aren't many places that I've heard of down there that are cash only. I don't carry much cash anyway. I would definitely eat here again.
Pricey. Over 3 bucks to add fries to your sandwich. No credit or debit card accepted. Odd in this day and age. Who caries cash?
Art's is really much more enjoyable in the off-season when tourists are gone and it's just locals. In the summer, the place is packed and the wait staff are stressed. The rest of the year, it's a cozy, welcoming place to hang out. My favorites are the burgers and tater tots as well as the smoked turkey BLT. I do recommend asking for their chicken sandwich bun when ordering the burger. The burger bun is too wimpy and falls apart before you're done and the bun they use for the chicken sandwich is more substantial and lasts through the sandwich. Again, I avoid Art's in the summer, but it's a must in the off-season.
We often ride our motorbikes along the scenic roadways, stop in and eat an awesome snack lunch, then ride on. I recommend this place for its Jalapeno Chicken Soup. (Wednesdays only though). As for the service, well we have had good and bad, but overall a great place to visit.
Sat at the bar during a busy lunch rush. The burger was fantastic and the staff was very attentive. The extra $3 for the fries or tater-tots seemed a bit much but only minor complaints and would eat there again.
