Fantastic farm-to-table restaurant in downtown Kennebunk. I had the mac and cheese appetizer that was a little too big to be an appetizer and perfectly cooked halibut with lemon risotto and mixed vegetables. My wife had the crispy egg salad that she orders every time we eat here for her appetizer and the scallops over corn puree with mixed vegetables for her entrée. A little pricey, but justifiably so for the quality of the food.

A recent slushy, Wednesday snow storm provided the perfect opportunity to dine out locally without a reservation. To ward off the bone-chilling wet cold, I went looking for heat - and was not disappointed. Starting with a Six-Point Resin and crispy calamari with a side of lovely dipping sauce, I was soon presented with one of my favorite 50 Local dishes- Tagliatelle. This one was billed as being served with lobster, calamari and mussels fra diavolo. Pasta fra diavolo is served in many places, many ways. What I was yearning for was sustained, but not overpowering heat. This was no less than an amazing dish, definitely the best fra diavolo in my experience, and possibly the best dish I've had, to date, at 50 Local. The sauce was rich and generous; the seafood, excellent, including the most tender lobster ever, and even an occasional surprise shrimp. I ran out of pasta before the seafood was finished, but never ran out of sauce. Thank goodness I saved some bread! Now I just long for foraging season to be able to compare this dish with Tagliatelle with marsla sauce and wild muhrooms, again!

My 2 friends and I shared the best food ever - fried calimari, lobster carbonara, seafood stew and the ultimate comfort food - pork chops cooked to tender perfection with mashed potatoes and asparagus. The food presentation reflects the chef's culinary experience, the staff was friendly and the decor was so well done. This is a destination restaurant to be sure - don't miss it - it was worth the wait!!

This is a great spot! A nice addition to the downtown Kennebunk area. The ambiance is very fresh, new and relaxing with an upscale feel that I do not find pricey. Chef David is presenting a menu supporting local food and prepares ordinary items in creative ways that surprise and delight. I started with the calamari; something I order often when I go out. It was probably the best I've ever had. Light crispy coating on extremely tender calamari. The twist? Topped with homemade pickled cukes and pearl onions and of course a cocktail sauce on the side.Unusual to me but delightful! I chose the pork chop for my main course. A one inch thick chop grilled perfectly tender and juicy and sitting on a bed of mashed potatoes. This was topped with baby asparagus and balsamic grilled onions. Not only did the meal taste great but was beautifully presented. It was served on a large white square dinner plate that had been decorated with a spiral bead of balsamic sauce! Let's not forget desert.....I had a fabulous desert that I had never had before. An amazing baingnette!(sp?) These reminded me of homemade donuts I had as a child. Made to order, they were served in a large bowl for two. Each was dumpling shaped, warm, lightly sugar coated and served with a dish of homemade custard sauce for dipping. OMG! I was stuffed when I left and extremely satisfied with my experience. This is a place that I want to put on my regular list. Everything is home made from the bread to the mayo! I want to go back to try everything on the menu and can see myself going in for an appetizer and a house specialty drink, a burger and a beer, one of the many nice dinner offerings or just a late night desert and coffee. Owners Merrilee and Chef David are always adding new items made from local and seasonal products. I missed the strawberry margueritas made from strawberries that their family picked for them from a local farm! And, I hear they are adding home made ice cream sandwiches.... These guys are doing a great job! I was thoroughly pleased with my experience and can't wait to go back. I only wish I lived closer to it.

Just as the title says, this is a great new restaurant on Kennebunk's main street, which is currently being revitalized. Treat yourself to a nice meal and great atmosphere!
