Catoctin Mountain Orchard

I took a field trip with toddlers here. Awesome experience very nice people full of knowledge . Perfect produce. Their apples are out of this world. They also have everything you could want!
In early July, I bought 1/2 bushel of Lodi apples (had never used before) with the intent of making some applesauce. Because of schedule issues, I couldn't make the sauce right away. I kept them at room temperature for a week or two, then into my colder basement until I could make the sauce. As I walked by the apples one day, I noticed that they had split open & had spoiled. When I called the orchard, the owner explained that Lodi apples had to be made into sauce right away or refrigerated until ready to use. I explained that I did not know that & no one on the orchard staff explained this to me. It was my loss of $11.50 - the owner did not offer any gesture of good will. When I suggested a sign by the apples to inform people, she said she would take it into consideration. I was by there this past weekend - no sign.
Fresh fruits and vegetables most of the year. On premises refrigeration allows for longer supplies. Friendly staff - just ask them what's the newest items being brought in from the fields if you want ultra-freshness. Fresh pies and cookies. Individual portions, too, if you just want to snack. Jarred jams and jellies. Local cheese and frozen products. Fresh cut flower field. Pumpkins in the fall, etc.
Amazing! BUT!! Not at all nice to there customers. I drove all the way out from Myersville to grab some of there Black & Blue jam. I was 10 minutes late and they wouldn't just open for me real quick. I waved and knocked. Finally got acknowledged but the lady wouldn't come to the door. You would think they would just be nice enough to see what I needed. What if my car had broke down and I needed help. NOT NICE PEOPLE!!
We love Catoctin Mountain Orchard. Staff have always been pleasant and very helpful! Love to get there early September to get some Honey Crisp Apples. For those who want to pick their own produce, you have to call ahead to find out what time you can do that.
