Wesley's Restaurant & Cocktails
Reviews
The staff is polite and friendly. The ambiance is mostly country type. This is definitely more of a "local" type place, with the same folks from the surrounding area as patrons. The food is 4 out of 5 as long as you stick to the basics. Salad bar is nothing to write home about. Prices are more than fair. Its conveniant for a date as there is a bar attached to the restaurant with live music on weekends, and a carryout liquor store attached also. The crowd can seem a bit rural, but I've never had a problem there. For the younger crowd, they now have a Vapor bar in the back, which is pretty nice. Has its own entrance and bar and can order from the menu there also. For those looking for the local "dive" experience, this is a good choice, although I would put it a touch above classifying it as a dive due to the three venues offered (restaurant, bar with live music, and vapor bar). Patio is nice in the summer.
Went there on Wed. seafood night had a little bit of a wait place was packed . Food was great from the seafood bar and wife had a prime rib was great
We went there for the first time tonight, to meet with some friends who told us it was a great place. When we arrived, at 6:00 pm, the parking lot was full of cars and drunks. That should have tipped us off that we weren't going to have a terrific dining experience. Little did I know how horrid it was going to be. We waited an hour and ten mintues for our entrees---double crabcakes for $24.99. 4 oz. broiled scallops for $11.99. We were supposed to receive rolls and butter with our entrees; the waitress Donna never brought them. My husband had to ask twice for a second beer, and had to wait even then. To make matters worse, we were seeing other people arrive, order, be served, eat, and leave while WE were still waiting. One of the guests at our table spilled a drink. We removed the tablecloth, but a new one was never brought. Ever. When the entrees finally arrived, I asked that our check be brought immediately, because we were now in a hurry to leave. Our entrees were small and not as advertised. I received four scallops, three of which were tiny. You can't tell me that was 4 ounces of scallops. I buy seafood and I know better. My husband had two of the smallest crabcakes we've ever seen, and they arrived cold, even amidst the hoopla of "hot plates!" My twice-baked potato was burnt. My vegetable was supposed to be an "aspargus-zucchine medley." I received four asparagus heads and one slice of zucchini amidst a small heap of greasy reds onions, which weren't mentioned. Fifteen minutes after our meal, we had to ask AGAIN for the check. We were on the verge of walking out, when the waitress arived with EVERYBODY'S checks and made us wait for ours, when we had asked for it first. On top of the bad food and the bad service, the place is hideously ugly. The ceiling tiles and the outdated paneling are filthy and greasy. The staff couldn't give a crap. When I raced toward the cash register to pay so we could finally get out of there, the cashier chose that exact moment to walk away for a couple of minutes, spinning out the torture for even longer. You could not PAY me to eat there again. The food was a ripoff and the service was terrible. The only decent thing about the meal was the beer, and Wesley's didn't make that.
Leave it plain and skmple this place sucks. Go to Johnstons a lot nicer and more classy place in Rising Sun.
We used to go to Wesley's until my husband got physically ill *several times* within 30 minutes of eating their salad bar. Once, & I'd chalk it up as just *something* - after repeated incidents, we don't eat there anymore. {I didn't eat the salad bar - didn't get sick.}
