Trio Cafe & Lounge
Reviews
This was a case of the back of house not knowing what the front of house is doing. Back of house: the food was excellent. Very, very good. A bit pricey, but worth it if the front of house issues are addressed. Front of house issues: 1) In spite of having reservation, hostess didn't respond when I said that I had a reservation. Was then seated next to cold window when there was clearly better seating in the place. No place to hang a coat, something that's not good in the winter and when seated at a small table. 2) Staff took call for a reservation on speaker phone (!). 3) Background music (did we really need it) was distorted. Either the radio station wasn't in tune or the playback device was turned up too high. 4) At dessert time, we were instructed that one of the desserts takes 20 minutes to make. That should have been made clear when ordering the meal. Of course, that dessert was not ordered. Summary: Excellent food and clearly a talented chef, but the front of the house is sloppy and untrained. I don't know why there is a television in the dining room. Trio is not a sports bar. It's a place where one can easily pay over $75 for dinner for two.
Service was less than par. With only four tables full in the restaurant I wouldn't have expected better service between the three waiters and waitresses. Waitress completely forgot ketchup and drink refill requests and went chatting with her friends. No one came to ask if we needed anything. I loved the one in Dartmouth before it closed but I would not come back to fall river location.
Best food, service, and price!
The menu is exciting & innovative. One word, delicious! Loved the strawberry & spinach salad, as well as the pistachio crusted chicken entree. Had a cucumber & gin cocktail which was summery and refreshing. The waitress was sweet and attentive. Thanks again for a great meal! We will absolutely be back!
I have been going to Trio for a few years now. The food is amazing, the staff are ver proffessional an fun. The cocktails are a great value. The owners are also very welcoming to everyone....especially regulars. I would also like to add that Trio is a great benefit to the community in Fall River....always willing to donate and help make Fall River better. J.S.
