Picasso Restaurant & Bar
Reviews
I realize all the other reviews are great, however I must be honest in the best interest of this small business. The price is very high for the product. The food itself is of a high quality, however the execution was way off. Lobster bisque was the equivalent of cheap canned gravy with three very small pieces of lobster. The fillet mignon was ordered medium rare and was as close to well done as a fillet can be cooked. Very disappointing. My friends and I pretty much all ordered the fillet and were all very over cooked. Not pleased with a mediocre meal and a $700.00 bill to follow it up. Honesty is everything. I can't give anything other than the truth.
Quite nice little restaurant in a former post office building at the center of Barre. Very haute cuisine, which is unexpected in the location. Service is always good and the food imaginative. Unfortunately it's priced like a city restaurant, but if you know it's going to cost >$100 for two (with a few drinks) then you can rationalize that by saying you got city food (at city prices) but saved the drive to Worcester or Boston.
This is a cute little restaurant with fantastic food and drinks. Some close friends suggested I try it out and I am so glad that I did! We dined there for the first time in November of last year and were so impressed that we go back at least once a month. The menu is small but everything on it is done really well. They also have amazing specials every night! One of my favorite dishes ever came as a Picasso special. It was a roasted rack of lamb with a spice crust and blueberry chutney and some kind of brie cheese. Amazing! My husbands favorite one to date was a grilled Ribeye topped with a roasted red pepper sherry sauce and a spicy tomato salad. I love going out here and have always had great food, warm service and delightful beverages. Make the trip to Barre. It's worth it! I would also like to point out that i am sure it is impossible to remove consumer reviews. It would defeat the point of having sites such as this one. Your comment was in poor taste. However it did prompt me to write a review on behalf of one of my favorite little places. Thank you!
As you can see from other reviews, this is a charming little restaurant. I am generally not inclined to be effusive in praising a restaurant but this place forces me to break with my own pattern. Every aspect of service was excellent but the real shocker at his place is the food. Although my wife and I had heard about the great food there we were still knocked out when we ate there. Every item from superb, perfectly and delicately seasoned salad dressings to desserts was perfect. Most perfect of all for me was the pork chop I ordered the first time I ate at Picasso- without question, the best pork chop I have ever tasted; perfectly cooked and incredibly seasoned. What seems most amazing is that we've had two dinners there in the past month and both times there was not one item served to us that was not superb. Although our vacation home in the Berkshires is almost 100 miles from Barre, we returned a week later to dine again. The combination of unusually superb food (apparently everything on the menu), terrific service, and VERY reasonable prices makes this our favorite restaurant. My only wish is that the restaurant move closer to my home; I envy those who live nearby. Please leave some room for us- we will return as soon as we are able.
The staff her is incredibly friendly, and the food is magnificent. The atmosphere is so relaxed, its a great place to go with your friends after work, but at the same time its fancy enough to impress someone on the first date. :)
