Heavy's BBQ

They serve canned vegetables warmed up in a microwave without any seasoning. Sometimes the fries are passable but more often than not are soggy. Meats are of good quality but not cooked with the respect they're due. Interminable delay for your food to arrive with no waitstaff checking in or even acknowledging the slow kitchen. The kitchen seems to be slow regardless of how busy they are. Mixed drinks arrive from the bar with a "palate cleanser," which is Bud Light in a shot glass. Typos in the menu and history of the restaurant. We live in town and have given this place several tries over the years. We've found it best just to go elsewhere. We gave up seeing if they could get their act together.

Used to be pretty good food a couple years ago, something happened and they started over-smoking everything. To the point that chicken tastes almost fishy. They changed the type of chicken on salads and now you will have to pick the chicken fat and gristle out of a SALAD. We tried the prime once and it was disgusting, I couldn't even eat it. I recommend the drive to Clyde to Velma's Lazy B instead. Worth it. The only thing Heavys has going for them is the liquor license and BBQ sauce.

Waitress was great! Hickory smoked prime rib was the toughest piece of beef I've ever tried to eat. Salad was wilted and appeared to have been pre made and stored in a cooler.

Living in Concordia, I frequent Heavy's for food or just a drink. I use to love there pulled pork and brisket, but it seems like more often than not these days, the pork is swimming in grease, and the brisket is bone dry. They have a good steaks and chicken dishes, but I've never been too impressed with their ribs. They have a pretty wide variety from appetizers to dessert. All and all, a decent place to grab some grub, but I wouldn't go in expecting to be amazed.

The hamburgers are really good, but that's about it. Most of the bbq food is very dry, but the actual bbq sauce is good. I do really like how the restaurant is decorated.
