Kaizen Hibachi Grill Sushi & Bar

I have given Kaizen SEVERAL opportunities to redeem themselves, but to no avail. We waited 30 minutes to get drinks, another 30 to get food orders, was not told and charged $10 for two pots of tea, server was working two areas (Hibachi and Dining Room) which led to not focusing on the customers needs (ie other customers were complaining of the same things that we were experiencing), menu options were eliminated to only Hibachi items, various types of fried rice options, teriyaki dishes, and sushi. When I called to speak to the manager about these issues, his explanation for this was "we only have one chef, two waitresses (which I never saw), and it's Christmas Eve. The reduction of menu items is to compensate for the loss of the chef a year ago because he can't keep up with the orders, and the reason the tea is so expensive is because it is an expensive blend of tea that we make in house." I told him, "if you are going to be open on Christmas Eve or any other potentially busy holiday, then you need to be prepared to serve any number of customers." There were more excuses than resolutions to the issues then they have going on. THIS PLACE IS PATHETIC!!

This is strictly a comparison review with the only other hibachi grill(Hana Yori) locally that I've been to. I'd 1st like to say that if you've never been to a hibachi grill before, this is a solid 4 stars. The atmosphere is more modern, with up to date music playing. The decor and look is nice. The service is great, and very friendly. My water never got a chance to get below 1/2 glass. Now, as for the food, which is why we usually go out for. To compare with Hana Yori... Soup:Hana Yoris is great. It has noodles, and is salty.(I'm a saltaholic) Kaizens is good and flavorful, minus the noodles. Salad:Hana Yoris dressing is a very strong ginger, and thin. Kaizens is a thicker, milder ginger, and is sweet. Ginger Sauce:Hana Yoris, like the salad dressing is stronger. Kaizens is a thinner, milder ginger. Mustard sauce:Hana Yoris has a very strong mustard taste. Kaizens is a very mild, sweet sauce. I really couldn't taste much mustard. Which I preferred. Main course:Started with fried rice. I preferred how Kaizens fried theirs. It was softer. Hana Yoris is great too, but IMO, is slightly undercooked, and normally is the countless times I've been there. Unfortunately, at Kaizen, you get 1/2-1/3 the amount of rice you get at Hana Yoris. The steak, chicken, and shrimp are very comparable between the two. Kaizens is more "saucey" though, with slightly more flavor. The vegetables are also comparable, but as with the meats, they had more of a sauce with them. Unfortunately, I prefer my vegetables with my rice at the beginning of dinner. At Kaizen, they were the last food received. The "deal breaker" for me was there was nothing to compare Hana Yoris egg sauce. Now, some people don't care for it. It's one of those, love it or hate it things. That really is the reason for the 3 stars. Prices:compare to if not slightly higher than Hana Yoris, and you get slightly less food. So if you're a big fan of Hana Yori, and are expecting the same thing, then stick with Hana Yori. I've been meaning to try this place out since it opened, and finally got to. Would I ever eat here again? Probably, but I've ate at Hana Yoris so long, it's all become an acquired taste to me.

I have been to Kaizan several times now. While they are expensive it is very worth it. I have been to several high end Japanese restaurants in larger cities and Kaizan is still on the top of my list. The sushi is amazing and they tend to put on some of the best Hibachi shows. Best Scallops I have had thus far. The food comes out fast even when not at the grill top. It is a nice and fairly quiet place all things considered. Deffinately worth the money. Very wonderful place.
