My review is based on expecting a Coffee House. We went to visit this coffee house this morning for the first time. The woman working behind the counter, who said it was her shop, was grumpy, unfriendly and pretty unpleasant. As I always do when I visit a coffee house for the first time I ordered a shot of espresso and a cappuccino. Anyone can make a latte, but a cappuccino takes knowledge and skill. The owner didn't know how to prepare a shot of espresso and my shot was served without the crema. My cappuccino, wasn't. It was a latte. She obviously didn't know how to steam milk, how to pull shots of espresso or how to pour a cappuccino. If you're looking for a coffee house that serves great coffee and espresso beverages, keep going. On the other hand this establishment was really a little country kitchen that happened to have an espresso machine. It was cute, and had a nice menu. My wife had a breakfast sandwich, bacon and egg, that was fantastic and well prepared. Probably a good place for breakfast or lunch, but not for great coffee. Should be renamed, "Grumpy's Breakfast and Lunch Cafe." We won't go back.
The decor is country kitchen, not my taste but still nice. The staff is very friendly. I loved their Reuben. Everyone said that Erika's place was great but I had a horrible experience there. Happy to see that there is a good place to eat in Cicero.
Great local coffee shop. Good food. Good atmosphere. Free wifi.
Great atmosphere, top notch menu, Internet, baked goods! Best around.
