Worst dining experience of my life! I have been going there for years and have always loved the food and atmosphere. We have had several unprofessional servers but the food has always brought us back. Never again! We have children, and going out without them is a very rare occasion. So on Valentines day, we decided to get a sitter and escape there for a quiet dinner, just the 2 of us and not far from home. We called at 2pm to see if reservations were required or accepted, after all, everything is packed on Valentines day. To our surprise, they said to just come in, no reservations were needed. We showed up around 6pm, waited a few minutes before a kind server showed us to a booth. As she was seating us, another server was taking orders from a table behind us and stopped to complain that she was not "superwoman" and "they keep putting everyone in her section" and "well, they will just have to wait for their drinks and stuff because again, I'm not superwoman". I was a little stunned by her rude and loud, unprofessional behavior but we began making decisions on food and drink and moved on from it. About 10 minutes into waiting to be greeted by " superwoman", another employee, this time a male, came by and while trying to be very nice, asked us to move because they had forgot about some reservations who were now waiting at the door. We did not appreciate this for many reasons. 1- the table they were offering was directly inside the door. Every time that door opened, there was a rush of cold air from the sub zero temps outside. 2 - there was live music and the musician was directly in front of this table. 3- we had called to make reservations and were shot down!! How did these people make reservations?? Regardless, after telling the man we would prefer not to move and he persisted, I asked what other tables were available. He only had the one we did not want and was pretty persistent we move, so I said I would prefer to leave. We grabbed our coats and left. This is a pretty small place. I'm sure other patrons noticed the situation and I can only hope they found it as appalling as we did. We have a huge family and a lot of friends here in Washington so not only are they losing our business, they will be losing a lot of business from respected families and individuals in our community.
I called on Valentine's Day to ask If I needed to make reservations and they told me no. I showed up with my wife at 6 And we were seated in a booth. Once we were seated.. a tall brown haired waitress starting complaining that we were seated in her area and commented loudly that she wasn't superwoman. It made us not feel welcomed there and we don't go out to eat a lot. We waited around 10 to 15 mins and weren't acknowledged or even asked if we wanted something to drink, and then another individual came out and asked us to move to another table because the booth was reserved... I wonder why they didn't have me make a reservation when I called earlier. After not being acknowledged and having a rude waitress we decided we would leave. We live in washington and will not ever go back and recommend everyone else not to go.
We made reservations Wed. for our Bible study group of 7 for Thursday at 6:30. We were celebrating finishing a study. They had no record of the reservation and it went downhill from there. The service was very slow and spotty. By 7:00 they were sweeping the floor and putting chairs up on the empty tables. We were clearly in the way of their top priority, which seemed to be get closed up and get out of there. We shared their sentiment. Each course of the food was slow to come. Promised water refills did not come. When I asked the waitress to pick up the payment from one of our group who needed to leave, the waitress became angry with me and defensive, She was rude the rest of the evening. Basta O'Neill's turned our group's celebration into an uncomfotable experience. This used to be a pleasant place to eat. No More. No More is exactly what we will be doing. We will not eat there again. It is so unfortunate.
Food good. Prices good. Service and treatment very bad. 2 ½ hours before closing time, when other patrons had left, yet still half way through our meal, the waitresses and staff started closing down the dining room for the night. Chairs were being stacked on all tables, including those next to us, plus window shades being raised. Our waitress and other service staff were walking around and talking loudly like there were no patrons. Totally altered the atmosphere for our evening anniversary dinner and conversation. We simply wanted to finish quickly and leave. Very disappointed.
I've eaten in high end restaurants and multiple italian and sports bars to say the least. My wife and I went at a slow time (which was fine since we were there for an anniversary). The service was okay. I didn't expect much as is the case in most of the restaurants around here but the food was excellent. I've had high end italian and their food came close. Plenty of parking and the pricing was pretty good. The atmosphere was a bit dark with candles which set the romantic mood right. All in all I would recommend visiting them at least once to see if it suits you.
