Busy place!! Make reservations! We did, we were seated promptly.I had pizza. It was an Italian style with no sauce. It was ok. My wife had the seafood Alfredo. It was made with real imitation crab meat. My wife didn't eat much of hers and opted out for a piece of my pizza that she really didn't care for either. A fast food Italian restaurant might be able to pull off the obvious use of imitation crab meat but we did not expect it from Cannova's. The service and prices were good.
My husband made a dinner reservation for our third wedding anniversary, 7pm. we showed up at 6:45 thinking we would have to wait just the 15 minutes... Turned out we waited an HOUR AND A HALF! WITH A RESERVATION... explain that to me please?? I kept getting told "just one more minute"... there were people without a reservation going ahead of us because the hostess knew them. We finally got to sit down, and it was way too dark to read, too crowded to actually hold a conversation and when we got our food, I would have preferred McDonalds over what I got. I ordered the Oyster alfredo with penne'-- What I got was COLD pasta with some crappy out of the can alfredo sauce and sand in the shell of the CLAMS... NOT OYSTERS... VERY disappointed. haven't gone back since.
I used to work here and I can still say that I LOVE their food. Every time I am home I usually go once or twice and get the gloria reed and some of their fresh bread. I miss this place and wish that I had some place like it near me. The owners still remember me and always say hi. Very "Cheers Bar" sort of place.
One of the two great restaurants in Freeport. Great pizza. They have a Greek pizza that's very good. Steak is good, too. Great staff.
Everyone that spoke was very nice, the food is excellent!!
