Delicious food in a relaxed, casual-nice atmosphere. We came here after a long day on the Road to Hana and driving all the way around so we were very tired and hungry! The people here were super-nice (as were most people we encountered in Hawaii) and we had a great time. Pretty pricey, but you get top-notch ingredients and preparation. We started things off with their Oysters Rockefeller Hawaiian Style, served with mango mignonette--divine! I got their seafood coconut curry, my friend got their baby back ribs and we shared a lilikoi (passionfruit brulee) for dessert. Everything was good, but it wasn't quite as good as I was hoping, considering their reputation and prices. My curry was a trifle too bland, although maybe I was supposed to put in more of the "add-ins" they provided for me: golden raisins and cashews, pineapple chutney, and toasted coconut shavings. My friend's baby back ribs were slathered in a bit too much sauce, and she only got a side of mashed potatoes with it--is it too much to ask for at least two sides at these prices? The lilikoi brulee was awesome, though, the perfect texture and served in a bowl made of almond brittle with a disc of nicely caramellized sugar on top, all on top of a bed of fresh berries, wow. Overall a worthwhile visit, but not sure if I really NEED to go back.
Excellent high end restaurant. They have good vegetarian options. The vegetable curry was incredibly good - not a routine curry, so while it sounds boring, is very good. The Haricot Vert Salad & drinks were also good. Great service.
These dishes are smartly layered with fun and unique flavor combinations. You can truly taste the freshness in the ingredients. I've visited them for lunch and dinner and it is always a treat.
Great food and service.... be prepared for a voyage into upcountry.... and use your GPS to get there.
It's a drive from main sights on the island. The place is a little pricey but they do have amazing service and very good food. Their tacos were just melting in my mouth. Would definitely come back again. Plus in front of the store is a really cool glass blowing shop where you can watch them making glass whales and other great stuff.
