Bull Shed Restaurant

Steak & Sea Food are the best.

Fairly short menu with basic items, but they are done well. Ahi tuna is quite good. Not difficult to find a table here if you don't have a reservation, which is a definite plus.

My wife an I were on our honeymoon, and asked some of the locals what some of the best places were to have a nice dinner. One girl told us The Bull Shed was the best place in town, and we should definitely go there. When we asked how to get there, her instructions ended with the phrase "you can't miss it." Well, after missing it several times, we finally found the place tucked back where no out-of-towners will easily find it. We were a little puzzled even from the parking lot. This is the fancy restaurant the girl had raved about? Well, ok. So we went inside, and were further unimpressed. It was dark and woody, but not in a cozy or romantic way. More like the way I think of my grandparents' den. After being seated next to a window near the ocean (this might have been a nice view, except it was after dark and a bit rainy, so nothing to see - not their fault, of course), our waiter arrived. He was an interesting fellow, to put it politely. Something was just a bit off somehow, but we couldn't tell exactly what. After getting our drink and food orders, he disappeared, and we sat there sort of laughing under our breath at this "fancy, romantic restaurant". Our starter salads came, and he disappeared again. The salads were, um, not good. It was like someone had lazily chopped some iceberg lettuce, tossed a couple of carrot shreds and some sort of weird dressing on it, and said "Voila!". Not impressive, whatsoever, but hey, it's a starter salad. I hope my steak is as good as I've heard it would be. So we wait, and wait...and wait. No sign of our server. I mean NO SIGN. We didn't even see him at other tables, or do anything, anywhere. Eventually, another server came over, and proceeded to ask us what our orders had been, with no explanation of why she was asking or anything. We asked what happened to our other server (not that we were missing him or anything), and her response was very awkward. "Oh, Mitch (or whatever his name was)? He's...he had to...um, he's not here anymore." ...Okay... So after giving her the same orders we had already given him, and waiting again for our food, we finally got it. Let me just sum this part of the experience up by saying it was lackluster at best. I have had fancier meals at Sizzler. But surely, after the whole whatever-it-was-that-happened-to-our-other-server thing happened, and having to wait not once but twice for our meals, they would apologize, or maybe even comp our meal or something? Nope. Full price charged. Not a shining moment in our honeymoon experience. But hey, who knows? It's been a couple of years since then. You may love it. Our experience, though, was that the last two letters in Bull Shed were typos. :P Oh, and I don't have any way of knowing, but I always had a feeling something bad happened to Mitch, like he was abducted right in the middle of his shift because of some gambling debts or something. I don't know. Maybe he just got sick and had to go home.

Service was horrible, order was messed up twice and my wife and I both ordered from the menu, with no changes. The food was appalling. Fish tastes like it came from the bin out back, not the sea, which happens to be a stones throw away. The only plus was the drinks were strong. The restaurant was full of elderly folks at the time, so perhaps the food catered to them. Very cafeteria style/quality.

A little funky, but decent... Grilled Ahi, Rack of Lamb, Ribs are very good...
