Papa Joe's Italian Restaurant
Reviews
Waited an hour to be seated, had to check twice. Place has only been open since 3/1015 after rebuilding from a total loss (fire) in January 2014. Place was overrun by customers. Had a couple drinks at the bar and chatted with the bartender. Wife ordered a Moscato and the bartender seemed to struggle with this, finally telling us that they "didn't sell it by the glass" Finally got a glass, though. Good After being seated we must have been apologized to about 3 or 4 times. Not a good replacement for service. Ordered cheese plate and entries. Got the appetizer pretty quickly and it was good, well prepared and good selection of cheeses. Strawberries were awesome and very very fresh. Waited another 50 minutes for meal to arrive. Wife's order was a mistake, but not too far off from what she ordered. Waiter, Joey, said it was his fault he grabbed the wrong item. No big deal. Meal was ok, though they claim to make all their pasta, sauce and meatballs on site. Served warm and the portions were huge. We took home more than half. Continued to be apologized to, however, were presented with a full bill. I was expecting more from their sauce, little bit watery, but still tasty. Pasta was done perfectly and still very warm when served, that was a big plus. Place looks great. Staff was attentive if not over apologetic. Hope that apologizing doesn't replace service. Time will tell.
Excellent Italian food. I dined on a Friday evening when they were very busy. Our waitress never missed a beat, handled the rush very professionally. I had the Fettuccine Alfredo and I added mushrooms. The sauce was a very light cream, more of an olive oil than cream. It was excellent & I gave it a 5 Star. My friend had Eggplant Parmesan with a side of spaghetti. He enjoyed both and rated them a 4 Star. We shared the stuffed mushroom appetizer that had a bread crumb stuffing, no cheese, that was OK, nothing spectacular. Over all it was a pleasant experience and we will put this on the list of good restaurants to return to.
I recommend the "Grillin" steak with homemade butter and roasted potatoes and finishing with Italian style Tiramisu (you know with lady fingers). Pasta can be overcooked so watch out for it.
Very disappointing. The spaghetti with meat balls was drowned in tomato sauce and the linguini with broccoli and garlic just tasted of garlic and was vey much overpriced considering it would cost about $5 to produce. A very boring dish. Haven't visited for some time and won't be doing again if this is the best that can be offered.. Service was also very ordinary which is unusual. J.K.Borrill
My husband and I had our anniversary luncheon there. The food was great and the service was wonderful. We go there a lot and every Valentines Day!
