Sat out on their "back porch" and enjoyed a good meal in a great outdoor spot surrounded by trees and flowers. This place is really worthwhile driving up from Rye--the drive is great too. Service was quick and pleasant and the meals warm and tasty.
We walked in and the just looked at us for twelve minutes finally after the waitress who was running back and forth apologizing other asked the waiter who just stood there looking at us to please seat us he tried to put me in a booth with a step you would figure after staring at me in a wheelchair for almost fifteen minutes he would have asked if steps were a problem. Then when my wife told him a booth wouldn't work he told us to wait and he would clean another table. What was he doing the last fifteen minutes.
On two nights I enjoyed eating in the bar side of the restaurant. The Feed Store Restaurant has a regular dining hall and a bar to the side. The bar has a pub feel, small, and intimate. Lots of older wood paneling and local decorations, but not hokey. The dinner menu has the option of "light plates" which are smaller portions. I order the light fish plate. It was delivered to my table by the Chef himself. Whitefish cooked in a white wine sauce, with thinly sliced zucchini on top. Sides included tender asparagus, mashed yukon gold potatoes, and an organic rice dish - all were freshly made and delicious. The second night I thoroughly enjoyed the flat bread appetizer (it is a full plate so take a friend to share!) with cheese and tomatoes drizzled with pesto sauce. The bread was crispy and the cheese was plentiful. Paired with a nice red wine it was very satisfying. Thank you Chef Shane Dean!
