The Fairplay Grand Historic Hotel
Reviews

Great town, had some great events going on with tents outside for sales of many vendors so we decided to sit down to eat. Service was great, nice day out but they had NO ICE so drinks are warm. Had to ask as they never told anyone. Live music, a person playing the piano, it was loud! Food took sometime but it was ok.... Should of ate outside from the street vendors. Hope the rooms are better then the restaurant. (After we ate we still ate from the vendors).

Food service was slow and the food was overcook. Neat, historic building but poor staffing.

We were disappointed to find that there was no place to store our food. When our guys brought a mini fridge they were told that the electricity did not support them. When they brought coolers, they were told that they weren't allowed to have food in the room at all because it would make the rooms smell like food. I've never heard of a hotel that doesn't let you eat in your room. It may be better to describe this place as a nice camp ground because of lack of utilities. We ended up booking all of our guys in a hotel down the street. Pretty disappointed

Great place to stay, friendly staff, historic building, convenient location

Come for lunch, you'll still be there for dinner. In an hour and a half we got four out of six meals, all of which closely rivaled McDonalds for quality. After watching several other people who arrived after us receive and consume their meals we decided it was time to leave. I think it would have been easier to learn Latin than try to explain that we just wanted the check and had no interest in staying at the hotel to wait for the other two meals by breakfast. Our waiter, was new, very enthusiastic, and did his best. The manager was a witch. No other way to it. She got mad that we complained, even more mad we wanted to leave and we had to fight with her not to charge us for the meals we never received, let alone comping us for the hour and a half wait. Best of all she blamed everything on the new waiter, instead of the slow cook who didn't cook all the meals from the same ticket first, before later arriving tickets. I hope for the sake of the waiter he finds a job somewhere else, really anywhere else. So, if you would like marginal food, severed at twenty minuet intervals and a atmosphere that rivals middle school check this place out.
