The Windsor Hotel
Reviews

While chatting with the bartender down the road at Elevation Brewery in Poncha Springs, we asked about good places to stay on the way to Durango. Her description of the Windsor Hotel piqued our interest - carefully restored old hotel with an outstanding bar and cocktail menu. The restaurant was closed by the time we arrived, but folks at the bar were raving about the food. The bar was incredible and the bartender was happy to let us try out different Colorado made spirits - including some vodka infused with locally grown Ghost, Scorpion, and Devil's Tongue peppers. The room was very reasonably priced - especially for the quality. The entire hotel was recently restored and the attention to detail is outstanding. Highly recommended. Go out of your way to stop here.

Fantastic Stay! and Even Better Food!

This hotel is amazing and beautiful. The rooms are large and comfortable with amazing beds. The restaurant is top notch, with an amazing chef with an incredible amount of experience. The food and hotel are reasonably priced. Best value for your buck. Perfect to stay the night if you want to hit up the Wolf Creek slopes in the winter. In the summer their are tons of mountain biking trails with some of the most diverse terrain out there in such a small area. Right next to the Rio Grande for fishing and water sports as well. The staff is amazing across the board. Never met anyone as nice and friendly as the Whitehead's. If you have any questions about the area or the hotel they are always eager to answer and help out. The bar is excellent, very nice and cozy with a great selection of wine (they have a sommelier AND a mixologist on staff as well) and great, cocktails, local Colorado beers and spirits. Definitely the place to stay if you are heading to the San Luis Valley. Best food and lodgings for a couple hundred miles.

Completely unexpected hotel and restaurant out in the middle of nowhere. The chef is seasoned from Wolfgang Puck, Four Seasons and The Broadmoor. This is an establishment you do not want miss this place. Definitely a diamond in the rough.

I just ate the French Toast smothered in delicious berries at the Windsor Restaurant. The brand new hotel rooms are state of the art with 1900's theme. Great food and stellar, 5 star service. Don't miss this gem!
