Black-eyed Pea
Reviews
I hate giving 5-stars only because you never know if the place is having it's employees leave the glowing reviews. I don't work here and never been before this outing. I have left plenty of 1 and 2 star reviews. The young waitress was very prompt, professional, and attentive. She brought refills with out having to ask. I actually left slightly over 20% for her tip as she was that good. As for food, it was fine. I had the special a Chicken & Dumplings and true it's not a Cracker Barrel stuff your face portion it was probably a more proper portion. The dumplings seemed home made vs the other places that seem they dump them out of a can. Could of had a little more chicken in it but it was fine it filled me up. Price was higher then Cracker Barrel but the restaurant seemed nicer and our service a lot better. I would go back.
The wife seen this place as we were going down the freeway. We were staying in Manitou Springs, so drove back one day for lunch. It was just OK. There are items on the menu that you don't get at other chains. I'm a fan of black-eyed peas, but I found theirs much too salty. We passed another while on vacation in Colorado & didn't even think twice about finding another suitable restaurant. Probably won't ever spend money at a Black-Eyed Pea
Service good but food not good at all no taste at all had the chicken fried chicken and the only thing that had taste was the breading chicken no taste. Mac and cheese taste funny. Enjoyed the bread, strawberry lemonade and water lol. But will never go back. It seem like they cater to an older crowd of people due to serving with no taste in food. NOV 18 2013
Good food. Good service.
Stopped in because it was walking distance to my hotel. Ate at the bar, and had the open faced pot roast sandwich, which was wonderful. The prices were very reasonable, and the staff was friendly. Overall, I would recommend this if you are in the area, and looking for some Southern cooking, at a good price.
