I've been going here almost every day for yrs, as its the only place I know to get organic coffee and some organic and vegan snacks, including scones, and cous cous. This is. merced county's best representation of casual atmosphere and n calif organics
You are likely to find reincarnations of Jack Kerouac and the entire beat generation founders here. Infused with local UC Merced students, this place has that certain "feel" or "spirit" interaction of the original beat hangouts with its poetry readings, local music, various coffees, drinks and munchies, and somewhat unusual, but frequent clientele. But, if you are into more of a stand in line, grab and go, bus stop, alone in a crowd type vibe, then just go to the Starbucks just down the street. Or, you can go to any grocery store, buy a cup of coffee and sit and stare at their bread aisle. Now, that's really exciting! I guess if you happen to be on acid, or maybe haven't slept for several weeks. But, I jest of course! Never mind. Just go to Coffee Bandits. It's on main street next to the cool looking theater with the big tower on top that says Merced. You can't miss it. There is also a very cool looking vintage neon 7-Up sign at the nearest intersection just for reference.
This is my go to place to relax and enjoy a cup of coffee or tea. Amazing local Cafe with good pastries/pies. The decor adds to the experience as well as the boardgames and books available to use.
Forget Starbucks, Coffee Bandits is the coffee that we need. Staff is always friendly and prices are perfect. 16 oz. Mocha, no whip, and I'm set for the day. Shout out to Andy and Chip for the outstanding service you provide to the community.
If you happen to be in Merced, CA be sure to stop at Coffee Bandits for the BEST local coffee you will ever have. Large seating areas (indoor and out) with a nice view of Main St. in Downtown Merced. Love the casual atmosphere, feels like home. It is a nice change from Starbucks!
