Pedalers Fork

My 17 year old daughter has been raving about this restaurant and the fact millions were spent on the decor. So we went last weekend. We had shredded onion rings while waiting for our main courses. The shredded onions were terrific. My daughter had the short ribs. She asked me to sample. They were passable, but the sauce on them was a little sweet and the meat was a little tough. I had the duck. Before I tell you how the duck was, let me observe that the Pedlar's Fork includes a bicycle shop. I thought the duck was a piece of one of the tires. It was overcooked, tough and completely inedible. 1 Star for Pedlar's Fork. Great appetizer, middling to poor entrees.
Food is amazing and the setting is just right for all riders to kick back and take a break. You must try their house brand of coffee.
On our daughter and son-in-law's suggestion, my husband and I ate at Pedalers Fork Sunday evening, June 1st. From entering the restaurant to leaving, everything was wonderful. The friendly hostess sat us at a outside table for two overlooking the lovely tress and creek. Shortly after we were seated, our server,Kamarco came over for our drink order. Since the restaurant has a extensive beer selection, I asked Kamarco to choose for me and my husband asked him to pick a specialty drink for him. His choices for us were perfect. Quite a few times, Kamarco asked if we had any questions about the menu and patiently answered all of them. He made appetizer and main course suggestions and we found him to be very helpful. We ordered the crab cakes to share and they were delicious. Lots of crab without all the bread crumbs and mayo. It was serve with a tasty, but not overpowering sauce. My husband ordered the short ribs and liked the ribs and the sides very much. I got the duck and it was excellent. The duck was cooked perfectly and the sides were delicious. My husband and I enjoyed our dining experience and look forward to many more meals at Pedalers Fork and hopefully with Kamarco as our server.
I have heard a lot of good things about this place so when we decided to go i was very excited. Unfortunately i did not have the best experience. We went today for a birthday brunch, and we were a large group (maybe that was the problem). We made a reservation and was seated right away (a plus) We were greeted nicely & served delicious bread right away! (another plus) So far so good. We ordered our food and that is when it went downhill. First of all, it took 45 minutes for us to get our food. i feel like this was a looooong time! Second, 2 of us got our food 10 minutes after everyone else got their food. (and we didn't even order complicated things, salad & french toast, how hard could those be). Then we when we asked for basic things like... ice for or water or ketchup they never came. And we didn't ask for it just once or twice or three times. At one point another staff member walked by and i asked him for some ketchup ... he said that he could not get me that because he was not our server.. what's up with that? A sign of a good restaurant is when they work together. At one point i had to go to the bar to get ice for my drink because after asking 10 times i never got it. The food was good but not the best i ever had (except for the bread yummy). Plus the kids meals... although "healthy" not worth the $9 for 2 small pieces of chicken. Overall i would have to say i was pretty disappointed by my experience . Even though the decor was nice and the space was beautiful, not sure i will go back so soon. Perhaps it is different with less people... perhaps the wait for the food will be less, but i think when another staff member says they can't help us that wouldn’t change if we were 2 or 20.
Great brunch place! A bit of a wait, but worth it. Nice atmosphere, good servers, and good food.
