The Wigwam

While the atmosphere was amazing, the server, Sheryl K. seemed unhappy about how busy the restaurant was the evening we ate there. She stated on several occasions that they weren't prepared for the crowds, they were overbooked, and extremely busy. This was evident by the burnt steak my husband was served, which, by the way the server referred to mistakenly as Sea Bass because he wasn't paying any attention. We were later told that he had friends, who did order the Sea Bass, at the table next to us; he was confused about our order. Additionally, since the server was busy, I ordered an Arnold Palmer from another server. He didn't know what that was. The room is called, "4 Diamond Dining Room." I would re-name it 1- 1/2 diamond dining room.
Very nice grounds, nice rooms, but the price difference/savings over Scottsdale based resorts comes down to service. Customer service at the wigwam is very poor. If you're interested in very good customer service go somewhere else, but if that's not an issue its a nice place.
Crime at Wigwam Hotel. My CAR and ALL MY STUFF was STOLEN from the Wigwam parking lot this weekend and the general manager, George McGann, says the hotel is not responsible and they will not be compensating me beyond the free burger I got yesterday. I was told there are no cameras in the parking lot because it isn't "required" and while sorry for any "inconvenience" I should not expect anything from them but what is required by the Sheriff's Dept. Having my CAR and thousands of dollars worth of personal and business items stolen is more than an inconvenience. Perhaps this was an inside job?
Historic Property! Modern conveniences! My wife and I have stayed here several times and LOVE IT! The Red Door Spa is great and three golf courses to challenge and the ability to satisfy both parties. Because its a historic property there is some "charm" but any problems I have had have been fixed with one phone call and always fast and professional!
The resort is beautiful there is no doubt about that, but their reservations department is ridiculous. We're a family of 5, all three kids are under the age of 12, but they want us to book 2 rooms, because five people cannot stay in one room with two queen sized beds, even though they also offer roll-away beds. That just doesn't make any sense. They want us to sleep in two separate rooms? Or they want me to put one of my kids in a room by himself? I'm not really sure what their genius plan was? They also only allow 2 adults per room, even if the room can sleep 4 people (2 queen beds). Why they care who sleeps in their rooms or how old they are is beyond me. These kinds of policies promotes dishonesty, because people will just lie and not state how many are staying in a room. Lets hope they never have an emergency where they need a headcount, because they'll be way off.
