The Root Cafe

This is a true must go restaurant. Went here for lunch last week and enjoyed my food to the crumbs on the plate. I ordered the cheeseburger with a half and half order of fries (sweet potato and potato). Hands down the meal was steps above David's burgers and amazing compared to Orange Burgers. I will visit this restaurant as long as I have teeth and a blender if need be.
Frankly, neither my husband nor I could understand the rave reviews as this place was pretty much the suck. The sweet potatoes fries were incredibly greasy and limp with an odd taste, pretty much inedible. The dipping sauce was also not very good. My chicken salad was acceptable, but nothing special pretty much on par with Kroger but at a much higher price. The dressing was also nothing special. My husband's 1/3 pound burger was also way over-priced for what he got. The meat was good a was the bun but they were incredibly stingy with the cheddar. Edible but hardly worth 8 dollars. Now Big Orange... THEY KNOW HOW TO MAKE A GREAT BURGER! We're all about supporting local business especially one that also supports local businesses. But the food ranged from marginal to inedible. Needless to say, we won't be back.
Eaten here several times. Never been disappointed. Specials change with whatever ingredients they find, so its always a tasty culinary adventure everytime I walk in.
I got the sausage egg and cheese on a biscuit. It was amazing. Plus the girls who work here are beautiful. And beer. At 830 am.
Great food and locally grown ingredients. There was a bit of a wait on a Sunday morning, but that's because it's good and they can't keep it a secret! I'll definitely be back when in Little Rock.
