Hotel Capstone
Reviews
Great place to stay! We love the rooms and staff.
While they do have free internet, it drops constantly (like every 2-3 minutes) so much that the first time I tried to write this review, it didn't submit. The rooms are not equipped with a microwave or refrigerator, nor is there a microwave anywhere for guests to use. The beds, showers, etc are very nice though so as long as you don't need anything for food, you'll be fine. Lastly I am going to comment on the staff. They have a full time "man who tells you what not to do" down in the lobby. I wore socks down (no shoes) just to get water from the fountain and I was given a lecture on how it is a liability if I slip and fall, as well as how it is not appropriate for a public space. My friend put her foot up on a coffee table in the common area for a few seconds and was told she was "destroying the furniture." While I agree that our actions were not the most appropriate, as a guest I do not like being lectured on what to do. I'm supposed to be able to feel at home in a hotel. The breakfast buffet was great, although you need a meal voucher for it and that probably cost money. So as long as you just want a place to sleep, you'll be fine here.
We were there for the Alabama Fire Chiefs Conference and when we checked in and got to the room some of the bathroom linen was missing. We informed the staff at the front desk and it was not replaced. The room was not quite. When we checked out we found out that we were over charged and the staff attempted to make it right but failed. When we got home we found out that the front desk staff cannot do simple math and we were still over charged. Called back and were sent to a person that was not in for 2 days. Beds were too soft, food was alright. They say they have a bellhop but he will just watch you get the cart, load your own luagage and then walk past him to your room. Just reverse it for check out. It was do-it-yourself bellhop.
Loved our stay at the Capstone last time that we have booked a room again. The bed was wonderful and we enjoyed the large suite. The staff were all always so nice and helpful. We enjoyed having breakfast there as well. So looking forward to many more stays at the Capstone. Wonderfrul staying on campus and not worrying about parking. Just walking distance to the stadium.
We stayed at this hotel because of the location on the campus of The University of Alabama. Overall, we were disappointed in the stay. For the price I expected a comfortable bed, however that is not the case. I was there with my two daughters and all of us complained about how uncomfortable it was to sleep on them. The pillows are flat. The rooms are large, with a flat screen TV. The water pressure to low to wash your hair. There is free WiFI throughout the hotel. There is a Restaurant (no complimentary breakfast, but free coffee in the lobby) and a bar on cite as well as meeting/banquet rooms, and a computer work area (with 2 computers) if you don't have your own, with a printer. They do provide transportation if you need a ride around campus. Staff is helpful and friendly. Would recommend if you want the location, but I will probably not stay here again with other good hotels near by for less money and better beds.
