Northern Lights Restaurant in Barrow, Alaska is excellent. It is family run and the staff is very nice. The food is great and I enjoyed my meal. I give Northern Lights a 5 Star Excellent rating. Best food in Barrow, AK. By Gregg L. Friedman MD

A previous review talks about an ocean view, including the whale bone arches... but that was the former Brower's Cafe, which has closed. Northern Lights does not have a great view. It is a family operated business, and they are a wonderful family too! The food is okay, etc etc. Nothing special, nothing wrong either. Eating out in Barrow is always a bit of an adventure...

Working in Barrow regularly it is nice to get out of the house for something different and Northern Lights can provide just that. The menu is quite large and varied from traditional American to Asian. Do not be shocked by the exterior of the building, it is the norm in Barrow. Inside is comfortable and warm with a great view of the Arctic Ocean and the famous whalebones you see in almost all of the Barrow tourist guides. Very relaxing inside when you sit by the stove and I always enjoy the large paintings. Be sure to grab a glass of the 4$ dollar iced tea, it comes in a very tall tumbler with your choice of sweetened or unsweetened. A rarity in Alaska much less Barrow.
