The Royal Oak - Hunt Club at Uplands
Reviews

I would like to thank the Royal Oak for letting us make a reservation on a Friday night Sept 26 ( so we were sure we could have dinner - other places "no reservations") and accommodating our group of 20 family and friends. We were in Ottawa this past weekend for our daughter's wedding and being from out of town wanted something near our hotel. Thankfully at my daughter's suggestion I ignored most of the reviews here and we had an amazing evening. We had such a variety of food ordered from my goat cheese salad, to shepherd's pie, fish and chips, and much more . The food was excellent - there was not one complaint! It was tasty and hot ! Our waitress was very patient with us and did a great job! Thank you again for making that part of our wedding weekend a great success!

Horrible service. It was dead but still took us 20 mins to get a drink. Sticky floors (reminds me of clubs because people are too drunk and drop drinks on the floor) Just overall disappointment for a usually good establishment name.

I like the variety and price of the food and beverages offered at the Royal Oak. I usually enjoy my outings to a Royal Oaks -- be it Toronto, or one of the several that I frequent in Ottawa's Downtown. Its unfortunate that I cannot say that for this location. This particular establishment had abysmal service. I'm not one to kick up much of a fuss about service, however, this location's service was exceptionally terrible. When I politely attempted to get the attention of one of the servers to my table after being ignored for nearly twenty minutes, the server glared at me and proceeded to walk away. I will definitely not be coming back to this location. To my pub crawling brothers and sisters -- stay far, FAR away from this place.

Once the server came around, I had the smokey burger and fries. The burger was a pre-made patty on a white bun slightly better than the average discount buns from the grocery store - it had a vague kaiser swirl and at least 12 sesame seeds on top. I couldn't taste the cheddar cheese and the chipotle sauce came straight out of a bottle. The fries had the look and texture of your typical frozen store bought fries and were barely warm. Once the food was brought, the service improved and I can't blame the server for the underwhelming food. Disappointing.

Decent food. Good selection of beer. Layout inside restaurant a bit odd and you feel too close to the other tables.
