We were passing through fernie on our honeymoon and found this place on google maps. The decor is great and very rustic, and the atmosphere was fantastic. My husband had the Blue burger and i had the coho salmon steak. Both were incredible. Service was spot on aswell. Will defiantly be adding this to the Favorite list.
The Brickhouse fits in very well with the downtown street of Fernie, so it doesn't look overly impressive from the outside, although it is a nice, well-aged, brick building. The inside is well furnished and spacious. They offer a selection of local Fernie brews and BC beers. Their liquor and wine selection isn't too bad either, not overstocked, but well furnished. The service I got was excellent and the selection of food is a very fair cut above most pub food I've come across. I had the portabello sandwich and my partner had the steak. Both were excellently prepared, and the fries were very delicious with just a hint of garlic. We had a great time, soaking up some excellent music (a little bit on the alternative aside). I wish there was such a restaurant where I live.
We were visiting Fernie from Calgary and found this place in our hotel's book of pubs. What a great suggestion! Yes this bar is small so be ready to wait for a bit. They allowed us to order drinks while we waited. The wait is well worth it for the food. The best pesto chicken sandwich I have ever had. And the other 3 I was with had some of the best "pub food" ever. The waitress was very friendly as well. Yes the wait was a little longer for food because their kitchen is so small. But we were well entertained by the TVs and good drinks!
