Cozy space, health conscious eats, and a long wait time. Communitea Cafe is a nice spot to grab hot tea and chat with a friend or order a vegetarian-centric, gluten-free meal. This place is pretty decent but it can become pretty crowded and harder to find tables for larger parties. I enjoyed the meal which included a portobello, pesto & gruyere panini with roasted red peppers served with "organic" popcorn. My wife got the turkey, apple, and cheddar panini with a side of curried butternut squash soup. The meal was pretty tasty and the sandwiches were made well. The soup of the day was interesting but the curry flavor was subtle did not suit the sweet flavors of butternut squash as I personally did not like it. The wait time for food was also too long for a sandwich order at around 30+ minutes as I had to ask for an estimate before I received my food. Overall, Communitea is a nice place to visit and has a decent menu to choose from in which the sandwiches were good but just expect to wait a bit. Meals can be around $10-15 per plate.

Cute and modern cafe in Canmore! However the wait was quite long; I think we may have waited over 30 minutes for our food to arrive. We visited during New Year's Eve, so maybe it was more crowded than normal? The food is healthy and natural, and they offered a number of vegetarian options. My hubby and I ordered one turkey and cheddar on ciabatta, and a portabella mushroom panini. Both were delicious, and surprisingly larger portions than expected. I also had a cup of their curried butternut squash soup, but it really just tasted like curry sauce that goes with a meat dish. The food in general is filling, but not too heavy. Great place!

Had a family breakfast at Communitea Café a few weeks ago (10 people including four small children) because this café has gluten-free items on the menu. The food was quite expensive but reasonably good. One young woman who served us was friendly but the rest of the staff was stand-offish and at times, just plain rude. No smiles, no eye contact. At the time, each of the adults in our party thought the boorish behaviour of the staff was perhaps an erroneous impression but found we all shared the same negative opinion when we discussed the poor attitude of the staff when we got home. We decided perhaps they were understaffed or stressed out that particular day and decided to give this café a second chance. My two daughters decided to go back a few days later because of the gluten-free menu and this time, there was no doubt that the staff on that particular shift was obnoxious. The waitress literally threw down a plate of food in front of my daughter and glared at them before walking away. Having read the description of Communitea Café online, we were expecting friendly servers and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Not so!! The staff here is in dire need of a "Customer Relations" seminar!

This cafe was one of the first shops that caught our eyes, as my girlfriend and I were driving through town. We parked nearby - wasn't hard to find parking in the middle of the day - and sat outside and had DELICIOUS raw salads and some coffee/tea. The service was good and they were very cool with us having our dog lay down at our feet at their outside tables. We LOVED Canmore, even in the short time we were there, and will definitely go to Communitea Cafe again.

Stopped here on our way over the rockies, and it was great! This place has a really nice atmosphere, and the food was delicious. I would recommend it to anyone, whether they're staying in the area or just passing through. The food seemed a tad overpriced, but it was good.
