Dined at the restaurant. Superb food for me, I had the steak, bacon and Guinness pie. Can't recommend it enough, yummo! The missus had spaghetti carbonara and it was too dry, the bacon wasn't cooked through properly. Bit unfortunate as the ingredients were good just let down by the preparation. No show stopper for us, we'll come back to see if next time the chef can hit the it in the middle of the bat for both of us.
We were part of a large group of people who went to the Burrendah last night. The Menu is fantastic and there is plenty to choose from with all the choices and Daily specials. The one downfall was the food was "very" salty. Too much in fact for most people and there was a few comments from the table saying it spoilt such good food. Salt should always be kept to a minimum and the food can always be salted at the table if needed. It was in more than one of the dishes and my Lamb Pie was extremely salty and it was a shame as all night I was drinking heaps of water.
Last Sunday a group of us went to the Tavern for a group meal. Three people ordered the Mount barker Free range Stuffed Chicken which was to be served with mushrooms, potatos and peas. According to the menu it is supposed to be wrapped in prosciutto and stuffed with bacon, brie cheese and spinach. It turned out to be one of the worst meals I have ever had! The chicken was NOT fully cooked as part of it was still RAW ! The bacon was so small and thin as to be almost non existent. The stuffing was laughable as it was so hard to find. It was so minimal. To top it off, the potatos were still hard and NOT cooked throughout ! NO mushrooms could be found ! This was the same standard for all of the same three meals ordered at our table. The waitress was told by one member and she said something to a chef, but NO further action was taken. So that is 11 people who will NEVER go to this restaurant again. Extremely poor food ! Its NOT exactly cheap to dine there and so for $32 for this, we felt pretty let down. We expected a lot better for our $$$ !
we have eaten her on at least 5 occasion and haven't been disappointed once.
Decent pub grub for a decent price. The new decor is welcoming. Very much a family pub or a quiet place to catch up with friends
