What an extremely disappointing experience we had at the Farmers Arms Daylesford. This would have to be the WORST encounter I have had at a pub/restaurant ever. Upon arrival we could see that the restaurant was busy so we were willing to wait. The 4 of us were told to grab a drink and wait outside and to ‘keep an eye on things’ for when a table became available. We would have eaten outside if there wasn’t about half a dozen people smoking out there. Whilst waiting for about 5 minutes we noticed a group of 7 people arrive. As we figured it was up to us to secure our own table we decided to go back inside and wait at the bar. As we proceeded to do this the 7 people who arrived after us sat down at a table as the group left. We asked the waitress if we could have that table and we were rudely told ‘well no, they’re sitting down’ to which I replied ‘ but we had arrived before them’ she replied ‘I’m too busy to deal with this’ and stormed off!! Another lady behind the bar asked what the problem was, upon telling her we had arrived before that group she said ‘the men sitting at that table told that group they could have the table when they left’. Dumbfounded at this response I told her we had in fact arrived before that group so how can it possibly be fair that they sit down before us, asking why they didn’t have some kind of system where they write people’s names down so it was fair. I was told that ‘maybe this isn’t the place for you then’. You can imagine how angry this rude, disrespectful and bad-mannered comment made me! Don’t bother eating here as if you aren’t there early to get a table it’s a free for all as the staff clearly don’t care about keeping customers happy. A pathetic excuse for a pub this truly is and the worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life. Will NEVER be returning again, and recommend that no-one else does either!
Friendly staff and very good food.
A great place to meet people especially on Friday nights. Guests staying at The Hide @ Mt Franklin love the atmosphere and the buzz.
