The Berwick Inn Hotel
Reviews
Dining at the Berwick Inn Hotel was an unpleasant experience last night. I ordered Lamb Shanks for my husband because they have the gluten free symbol, but questioned the waitress when the meal was delivered, because it came with Turkish bread. She said that it was a typo and the whole meal was not gluten free. She then said the fine print on the menu says it is our responsibility to inform staff of dietary needs. According to waitress they could do nothing to assist and the manager would need to be consulted. The manager tried to bulldoze her way through the issue citing the small print once more. We will never visit that hotel again, even though it may be convenient. The hotel need to reprint menus and read their own fine print to see what it actually says.
Had dinner at the Berwick Inn on Tuesday 27 May. My $34 porterhouse was accompanied by peas, a very small ordinary cob of corn and chips that could have come out of a no frills frozen chip bag. The pepper sauce tasted like it had been watered down. One positive, my steak was cooked perfectly and very tender. Our group and all dinner guests were given free dessert vouchers for the night. Coffee was luke warm and our waitress was indifferent and didn't care quoting " she didn't make the coffee" when I checked to see if it was a skinny cappuccino. Wish I had of read previous reviews before booking the 'Berwick Inn Hotel for a meal' .
I write this review based on a recent visit to the Berwick Inn and a subsequent in-person complaint made on Sunday 27/4 to one of the Berwick Inns duty managers. In short I found the bar staff at this establishment that where I place on Saturday 26/4/14 to be abhorrent in there dealings with my South African brother.... Simply put I found that the sobriety test put in place to protect this establishment are at best subjective, and have the effect that they can be perceived as boarder line racist; as they do not consider any person that does not have English as a first language. Please note that I fully appreciate that Berwick Inn has to protect themselves from the perspective of licensing laws and regulations; and to address this point I would suggest that further training is undertaken to ensure that all staff members at this establishment are more able to apply the appropriate sobriety tests equally to all members of the Australian community, especially theses highlighted above. Just to reiterate and as an English-Australian, I find that any acts that are against multicultural integration, is abhorrent and has no place in modern Australian society.
been there twice in 6 months both times had problems with the order and not being given a voucher for seniors meal dessert. Staff working the till had no idea. Also my grandson is severely Anaphylactic to multiple food groups and before they order for him his mother checks the ingredients to ensure nothing to cause a reaction. Asked to see the bag that the marinade for the ribs came in to check ingredients and was refused. if the rest of the table had not already ordered their meals we would have left. not rocket science and not sure that the sight of a 9 year old having an Anaphylactic attack in their dining room and needing an ambulance would helped their patrons enjoy their meal. n Never Again!!!
Very friendly staff. The duty Manager was a fabulous lady. Fantastic food and attention to detail. Loved it!
