Bird In Hand Winery
Reviews
We took four friends who live interstate (Sydney) for a Hills luncheon experience last Sunday 18th May. We all thought that it was an excellent afternoon out. Good, imaginative cooking, delicious wines, good art on the walls and attentive, friendly service. The only blot on the Bin H copybook were the coffees, which came luke warm and understrength. It was quickly rectified and an apology of sorts ( sorry for the "misunderstanding" ) was proffered. All in all, I'd recommend it without reservation. Well, perhaps the teeniest one. Half a reservation perhaps. And yes, I'm looking forward to making my next reservation at Bird in Hand.
Strongly Recommend. I went tasting at Bird in Hand as a result of a friend's interest... he'd read something about the winery in an inflight magazine. The concept is simple, three different ranges of wine, aimed at three different wine buying budgets... The top end, Nest Egg is to die for, numbered bottles, and not as expensive as I would have guessed from the quality of the wine. The middle range (Bird in Hand) was similar, wonderful wines, and again, not as expensive as you'd guess... ...However, what really surprised me was the lower end of the spectrum, the Two in Bush range. I was stunned by the quality and complexity of the wine, compared to the price. I came away with a selection from "Bird in Hand" a couple of cases from "Two in Bush" and a bottle of Nest Egg 2009 Shiraz to save for a special occasion.
A $10 charge to taste some very ordinary wines. Not worth it.
They wanted to charge $10 per head tasting - we arrived in three cars and they obviously decided they didn't want us - even though we are all very much into wine.
