Below average. Good bits were the scallop ceviche, very interesting and the wine was OK. However, the pumpkin and granola risotto was like something a 5 year old would mix up from any old 'stuff' they could find to hand. The rosemary salted fries didn't even have a slight hint of rosemary and the shallot and tomato salad was so basic and tasteless, I dont know why its a paid for item on a restaurant menu. Topped off with rushed, characterless service, a place easily forgotten.

The first time we went, the food was superb and the service was great. The second time they were busier and the service was not that great, they forgot our sides and the entree was stone cold (I actually had to get up and go to front of house to remind them about our sides as the waitress never came back to our table- the kitchen staff lady that came out and gave us out side AFTER we had finished our mains was a bit rude and did not apologize for the mix-up. The waitress eventually came back and apologized but by then we weren't enjoying our meal much). Plus the dessert drink I ordered- a hot buttered rum concoction was full of un-sieved bits of cinnamon and spices and was not really drinkable. I had to constantly spit out bits of chunky spices which ruined the experience. We are going again for a family dinner this weekend and hopefully the service will be up to scratch like the first time and I'll stay away from the stranger desserts. The prices are for fine dining so you expect excellent service and food. The serving sizes are small but that's not a bad thing as most hervey bay restaurants have servings that are far too big and cater to overweight people who want quantity not quality. If you want large portions of below-average food then go to hogs breath (gross). If you want regular portions of good quality food then dine at Coast- you will have room for desert and their chocolate terrine is to die for! So far they are one of the best restaurants we have come across in Hervey Bay (there is not much to choose from here). Keep up the good work, good service (keep your unfriendly kitchen staff away from the tables) and we will keep coming back for more delicious meals.

Nice food very poor service, also looks bad when you have a waitress getting around in jeans when you are supposed to be in a fine dining restaurant. I might go back but only after trying all other places in Hervey Bay first because I believe there will be better out there especially in the service department.
