Right in the centre of the Martha Street cafe and restaurant scene, In A Pickle set the standard for excellent coffee and food.
The salads here are delicious & filling. The cakes are divine.
When it is busy, it can be hard to find a seat, and occasionally I've had to wait a bit longer than I like for service, but I keep going back. It is just that good.
It's a little priced but worth it. Not an every day spot but once in awhile its very enjoyable.
I hosted a Melbourne Cup day lunch this year at home. Unsure of exactly what to serve up, except an idea along the lines of salads and a sweet platter, I sought the advice of Esther at In a Pickle. She gave me a choice of salads from which I chose, Chicken Waldorf, Mixed Roast vegetable and tortelini and spinach. This was followed up with a sweet platter that had an orange and chocolate cake, a pistaccio and caramel? slice and another quality item. The ladies and I found the food top shelf and plentiful not to mention gourmet! It was reasonably priced for what we had. Ruth 13/11/2010
