Shoney's Restaurant
Reviews

My daughters and I traveled to Montgomery WV on Sat. May 3, 2014. While visiting with family, we decided to eat at Shoney's with them. We were leaving for Ohio, after we ate. It was about 9:30 p.m. when we arrived at Shoney's. One of my daughters has Celiac Disease. We asked the waitress about gluten in several of the foods and she said she would find out for us. She gave us a copy of the nutritional values of all the menu items. This is not a listing of gluten free products. When we explained that to her, she said "I know what gluten is", Still she couldn't find a listing in the restaurant of what products do and do not contain gluten. Not only that, when we first ordered, two of us asked if EQUAL is available before we ordered our iced tea. Well, she said yes, and we asked her for it at least four times, after she brought our tea, before she informed us that they were out of EQUAL. So, because of no one knowing what items contain gluten and what ones don't, I told her to forget it, the three of us didn't want anything, nor did we want the ice teas she had brought us. My sister and her family had placed their order while we were trying to find out what was gluten free. This is ridiculous. I have never went into a restaurant and no one knew what was gluten free. This is an illness, not a decision to not eat gluten. And, also, my other daughter is allergic to all nuts, where is the peanut and nut allergy warnings. This is sad. My daughters and I spent our money at another restaurant on our way down 77North. Very dissatisfied with Shoney's. This doesn't even deserve one star...

I stop there on my way to nc and my way back. I love it, I made it my tradition. I go there on Sundays on the way down, that seems to be the busiest time. Even though they are busy they are still efficient and friendly. I will say I didn't enjoy the buffet, but the meals are very good.

I didn't think it was possible to ruin a $.99 steak, but they managed to do it. Buffet was as expected, edible but not good.
