We had a residing project along with a side porch and did research and gathered estimates from several contractors. I read the reviews and paid attention to the contractors thoughts on the project. What most impressed me with John was the way he thought outside the box. Contrary to what was standard, he had his own thoughts on how things should be done to make them right. I was quite impressed with that. I really can’t say too much more about John that you won’t read in the other reviews. Working with him was a pleasure and he takes his estimate quite seriously and tries to stay as close as possible. There were several unforeseen things that needed to be corrected on my house which called for time and material. It bothered him to go over the estimate, but that couldn’t be helped and was quite understandable. Like I said it was a smaller project so I didn’t see a lot of John during the work although he did stop out on several occasions to make sure it was being done to his way of doing things and to contribute his thoughts to any problem solving. What I was most impressed with was the help he had. The foreman was Tracy, with a crew of Aaron, Jim, Grover, Greg and Daryl. Each and every one of them was friendly, courteous, hard working and very skilled. They took the project to heart as if it was their own and tried very hard to make sure things were done correctly. Many problems that should have been addressed with the original builder were found and corrected. Some problems were just unique to the house and solutions were garnered from their collective experience that was quite impressive. No matter who you are you can feel very comfortable having this crew do whatever project you have in mind to the best of their ability and being just a pleasure to have around. Jim and Gwen Daly

We have used North Twin Builders twice in the last year to finish our basement, add a bedroom, replace our front door and add a window in our back entryway. John and his crew did a great job and my wife and I are very pleased with the results. The work was done on time and the crew cleaned up as the jobs moved to completion. They were flexible with the work schedule and made great suggestions for the two projects. We will use North Twin Builders again when we have more projects at our home!

I am an experienced home owner and builder. I have used many contractors/sub contractors over the years. NTB provided an innovative and cost effective solution in the upgrading of a 1946 house. The final cost was VERY close to the estimate. NTB does leverage the current technologies well in incorporating them into a project. Very good understanding of architecture and construction methods particularly in terms of solution designs. Otherwise said, John's solutions were better than mine! The crew that performed the work were punctual, cordial, professional, consientious and highly competent. In summary, NTB is an easy recommend.

I am quite familiar with the work that is done by North Twin Builders, and specifically am well acquainted with John Volkmann. I've toured his homes at various points in their construction, and after completion. The craftsmanship is evident inside and out; numerous touches that you might miss if you weren't looking for them. However, each and every one has been well designed and implemented to further the flow of the home and the efficiency of the systems. North Twin Builders did not build our home in Eagle River as we weren't aware of John's company at the time. However, John is our "go to" guy when we need work done on the home, or a referral for a service and we recommend him to friends and colleagues looking to build a custom home here in the NorthWoods. His integrity and honesty are unassailable, and his entire staff is incredibly accomodating and responsive. There is no better home designer and builder in the NorthWoods.
