The Brass Rail
Reviews
Place is dingy, drinks are poorly made and too pricey for this dive, the food is bad and the drunk bartender (Tana who also steals cases of alcohol in front of patrons) and owner are not only rude but find it sport to talk loudly and badly about and to customers. Don't waste your time or money on this crap hole. Doesn't suprise me they have little to no business.
Contrary to the other reviews this place is great. Great food and prices and fast service. Several widescreen TVs with sports and more on them and genuinely friendly people. I think everyone has an occasional bad employee or experience but It was my first time there and I will definitely be back.
Nice locals joint. Friendly people
If your not a regular dont bother youll get the worst service ever I waited 30 min before left with out even being approched there were maybe ten people in the bar
I cannot justify giving this establishment any stars except by requirement, in part because I was not able to experience their service, and also because the limited service I was given was horrendous. I presented my legal state of Illinois ID card to the bartender, Tana, who immediately became confrontational with me, stating that this was a fake ID and she was going to confiscate it. I explained to her that I had other forms of ID to show her, and she became more confrontational, challenging me to sign my name on a piece of paper in front of her for comparison purposes. I complied and she informed me again that the photo on my ID was not me, and the signatures did not match and she was contacting the police. In turn, I contacted the police and informed them that this Tana was attempting to confiscate a legal, government-issused document. The dispatcher was ready to send an officer to the establishment to help me when, miraculously, Tana decided I could have the ID back. I informed the dispatcher that help wasn't necessary any longer, informed Tana she had been very rude, and left. When I explained to Tana that while I understood she had every right to refuse me service for any reason, she did not need to be so rude and confrontational, she became more confrontational. I went down the street to The End Zone, where the bartender there informed me that at least once every weekend The Brass Rail has a problem with a patron and Tana. Tana's brother, who is co-owner of The Brass Rail, even came to The End Zone to apologize and inform me that Tana had been drinking heavily all day, and had punched another patron in the jaw merely two weeks prior. I would recommend avoiding this place at all costs unless you enjoy broken jaws and alcoholic bartenders looking for a fight. You may think complaining to Tana's manager would help, but as it turns out, the bar belongs to her mother and Tana is a co-owner as well.
