Kit Carson Family Restaurant
Reviews
Kit Carson used to be the best in town. Now it is the worsed. Bad food, bad service, and we got sick. We will never go back to Kit Carson in Chehalis Wash again.
Sign upon entry says "please wait to be seated" however You might as well seat yourself, no ones gunna greet you. Apparently understaffed. The Food we had was DELICIOUS. Hence my third star. But c'mon employees. Not sure why they are so sluggish. The environment is wonderful. Maybe they are dragged through the grinder each morning by the boss.
September 27, 2013 On the weekend of September 13 – 15, the W. F. West High School class of 1963 had their 50th reunion in the back rooms of Kit Carson Restaurant. On Friday evening, we met for visiting and drinks and some classmates had dinner. On Saturday night, the restaurant served a buffet dinner in the large, double room in the back. Breakfast was on Sunday morning in the smaller room in the back. First, we want to say that the employees who waited on us were excellent and friendly at all events. They were understaffed for busy times, but we highly appreciated their professionalism and prompt attention. The rest of the restaurant was a disaster. The floors, carpet and vinyl, were actually sticky on the bottom of our shoes. To take a class photo, we put down paper on the floor so some of us could sit on the floor. A member of the staff actually said that she came in on her own time to mop the floor for the Saturday night meal so it wouldn’t be quite so bad. The bathrooms were just nasty and in disrepair with obvious signs that certain areas had not been cleaned in weeks – perhaps longer. The tables were covered with black plastic (not very festive) on Saturday night, but the tables in the other room were as sticky as the floors. On Sunday morning, several of us opened extra napkins to put under our plates and silverware and over the edge of the table where our hands would touch. The food was mediocre for a $31 meal including gratuity. We had pork roast, chicken cordon bleu, and prime rib. All the meats were pre-sliced into warming pans: the chicken in one-inch slices and the roasts were sliced in the pans with gravy. Was it really prime rib and pork roast? There was no assurance of what we ate. This was the last hot weekend of the year, and there was no air conditioning or even fan circulation in the rooms. Doors were opened on Saturday evening to provide some air, but it remained stifling hot. With the open doors, all glasses of wine and beer and other drinks had their own little clouds of fruit flies. In all, we were very disappointed and certainly none of us in the class will use Kit Carson again. The committee has even sent an apology to the classmates, a letter to the restaurant owners and manager, and a complaint to the health department. We were embarrassed; we expected clean, not fancy, but basic cleanliness in our home town. Reunion Committee, Class of ‘63
Should be called "The Twilight Zone". Strange, dirty & understaffed. The older waitress obviously having a bad day, arguing with the other waitresses, etc. Won't return.
Really terrible... our order took forever coming, then wrong dish was delivered to my friend. I ordered salmon, thinking it was low risk. Salmon filet seemed to have been stored in a compactor. Bad! They're ridding the location, near I-5...
