My friends and I make the 45 minute trip from Rutland just to come to The Barn. I have been coming here for years but due to the events of last night I never will come again. There was 6 of us in our group. When our food was brought out to us the server tripped on the stairs and our food fell to the floor and then they STILL SERVED US THE FOOD AFTER IT WAS DROPPED ON THE FLOOR. Our waitress never addressed it or apologized. Furthermore, my boyfriends chicken was undercooked and the waitress essentially told him it wasn't undercooked in a very rude tone. When we tried to send our meals back the waitress ignored our table or anything we had to say. I have never been treated like this at a restaurant and have never written a review about any restaurant in my entire life. I came here specially for my birthday last night and it was beyond ruined.

We went for the first time tonight and loved it! The food was excellent and well portioned. We tried the filet migon, the Guinness steak and the chicken. Dessert was a flour-less chocolate cake. Would recommend calling in a reservation, as it was quite busy!

The atmosphere here is great, the service is always friendly and the food is pretty good.

I would like to give this place a 4 but i can only give them a 3 because the food seams to be hit or miss at this place. The first two times my boyfriend and I went it was REALLY good but last time we were kinda disapointed. We had a tomato basil soup ... it tasted like we were eating marinara sauce out of the jar i ordered the duck which was very good and the veggies that came with it were fresh however the portions were small and my boyfriend ended up eating half my meal cause his meal wasnt that good. The last time i was there i had a porter house steak it was really good not the best i ever had but really good i wish it was on the menu again. The atmosphere is also great call in advance and request a spot by the fireplace during winter months. /They also have an amazing cider beer there. This place went down hill once before they brought the food back up to par but i think they are making the same mistake twice.

My boyfriend & I had dinner last night. I ordered the Chicken Mettowee and was served two small dry chicken breasts with a sliver of prosciutto, no melted cheddar, no sauce. This entree USED to consist of two large chicken breast, stuffed with several slices of Prosciutto, covered with melted cheddar, and finished with a creamy sauce. It USED to be a generous portion( I mean, after all, boneless chicken is cheap!) and I always USED to have leftovers to take home. Such a disappointment! I only enjoyed the side of veggies. My friend had the scallops and was happy with his meal...I was so jealous!
