Dockside Restaurant
Reviews
Staff is very friendly. Arnold Palmers are great. Food is ok - little pricey for average food.
We were looking for a restaurant on the water for lunch after a day of touring and found this place. We were greeted and shown a table by a very nice host and that's where everything went down hill. The waitress seemed disinterested throughout the service, but was pretty good with the refills...watered down sweet tea that was warm and flavorless, and crummy lemonade. We ordered fried flounder and a club sandwich, both of which seemed like they came out of a box, the coleslaw tasted like...well...nothing really, totally flavorless and bland, and a sort of grey in color. We decided to order a slice of caramel apple pie...big mistake. It was mushy, tasted awful and also probably came out of a box that was thawed last week. Decided to hit the bathrooms on the way out and it smelled like sewerage and was absolutely filthy. The prices would have been reasonable for the potion sizes (small) if the food was actually edible. Until Chef Ramsey visits and whips this dump into shape, I say "STAY AWAY!!!"
I visited here on Sunday, June 29, 2014. It is a place that is less than a mile away from me and I like to take friends who visit with me there because it is close by. However, this place needs to retrain their staff. It is a very unfriendly place. They treat some of us like our money is not "green". The food is not all that any more. Very small portions for your money. They put your food on the table and never return to see if you need anything. I leave a good tip in spite of the poor service. You would think that would make them treat you a little better. But you get the same old cold treatment. I have come to the conclusion that I must find a better place. I love the scenery there but I need more than that for my money.
Being from south louisiana, i know seafood, i know shrimp. Know how to cook it, know how to eat it...grew-up pissin' iodine. That being said....now onto my review of this pretend-seafood restaurant. Weekday, evening, two peeps... had the all you can eat "special", the spiced shrimp and the crab. 'Round $26 each. No taste, to say the food was "bland" would be an understatement. "Spiced"? ...That terrible Old Bay Seasoning sprinkled on top. Sufficient, if you eat the shells. Boil seafood people, don't steam. Steam broccoli. BOIL shrimp in a pot full of seasoning and your seasoning cooks into your food. Sprinkle it on top and it all goes out with the trash. Unacceptable.
The service was horrible. The waitress never came to check on us. We had to ask the cashier to get our waitress for both refills and the check. The food sucked! The She Crab soup was watery and not tasty at all. The fried seafood platter was not seasoned at all. Captain D's tastes better. The coleslaw tasted just like cabbage soaked in vinegar and water. Definitely not a place I will return to.
