Green's Sausage House
Reviews
Very good sausage. The wife and I had the daily special (Sausage & Saurkraut, Mashed taters, green beans) and it was excellent. It put us back $17.95 or so total... well... that's before we went into the general store and added 3lbs of fresh sausage to the bill! :D The mashed potatoes were NOT a mix. Those were real potatoes on my plate. The green beans were completely acceptable, and tasted fresh as well, although I wouldn't stake my life on that. The bread was the only let-down. Well, that and the lack of brown mustard. But back to the bread... It was Mrs. Bairds, I'd bet, even though the menu advertised home-made. If it was home made, it was just a plain white bread, and that's just so-so compared to the rest of the meal. The waitress was a little flighty as well. She'd come in to the room, go help out the 4 people at the table next to us, and start heading out at high speed, so that I had to call her attention if I wanted anything (I just wanted a refill, and to ask about gravy on the potatoes). But the food made up for her. She wasn't awful, but she also wasn't awesome. She was friendly enough, but it got aggravating how she was fawning over the next table and ignoring us. Oh well. I got her back. I tipped her 20%. That'll show her.
The best food in Texas-- wonderful ham.
The food here is awesome! Best sausage ever is with jalepenos and cheese! The kolaches are a must every time I go to Temple.
Sausage burgers beer battered onion rings cold beer w frosted glasses & kolaches absolutely great..nice meat market (the garlic bacon is a staple at my house) a selection of homestyle canned goods a must visit kind of place
Green's is a great place to stop in and grab some kolaches in the morning... if it's not too busy. I drive by on highway 53 alomst every day, and I have a running joke that if you are behind a slow driver within 5 miles of Zabcikville, they are going to stop at Green's. Sunday drivers aside, the food is unique, and delicious, but vegetarians need not apply.
