Kloesel's Steak House & Bar

We set there for over 30 minutes and not even a glass of water was served waitresses kept walking by but apparently nobody actually waited tables we ended up leaving
A quaint little restaurant with excellent tasting food. I've only eaten lunch (never dinner), but have done so at least 50 times. The daily lunch specials are typical American fare (chicken fried steak, smothered steak, fried fish, etc.) and come with dessert (served first, with the drinks) and Texas toast. The food has a flavorful, home-cooked appeal. Even the iced tea is high quality. For the price, you can't find a better meal. One of my favorite places to eat, just kind of off the beaten path so I don't get to go often.
The food is always good but was very disappointed with the service. It is like actually "serving" the customer (refilling waters, removing dirty dishes, and checking back) is an after thought.
If you're thinking about stopping here to eat on your way to a Shiner brewery tour, don't. Food was terrible. If Hollasboy meant home cooked, he meant cooked in a trailer house using guvment cheese/cheap ingredients. I ordered Spinach Artichoke dip and it was the worst I've had anywhere. I imagine it was made by putting cheap cheese and spinach in a microwave for 13 seconds and then putting some shredded Parmesan cheese on top. Then they even served me some Tostidos chips with that microwave concoction. The burger was decent at best, but the bacon that they put on it didn't even seem cooked and tasted like licking the grease leftover in the pan after sitting out for several hours. On top of that, the service was horrendously slow, they could care less that I was there and I would imagine that had a lot to do with the fact I was from out of town. After all of that I felt sick after eating there. Huge Mistake, the ladies at the gas station told me it sucked and I should have listened. Please, don't make the same mistake I did.
Jefe obviously has an agenda. If you like quality food this is the place. It has been a known for years.
