Cheddar's Casual Cafe
Reviews
Compared to the Cheddar's on North Garland Avenue near 190, this locale's attention to customer service is abysmal. Having family in Mesquite, we TRY to have a meal here from time to time. Last night will be our last. My wife and I sat at the bar, and were promptly served our first beverage. The 2nd one...we'll, I thought I was going to have to walk around the bar and pour it myself. I FINALLY got a bartenders attention (after our glasses sat empty for well over 10 minutes) only after waving him down and yelling EXCUSE ME in his direction. Our drinks were dry as a bone halfway through our meal, and they were never refilled. And this was AFTER we asked the bartender (after having to wave him down AGAIN) We ask for more, he nods, and they never come. We weren't rude in any way...we were actually NOT in any kind of hurry, and was pretty patient. But sometimes you just have to wonder what in the world in going on when you sit AT THE BAR and you can't get the bartender to get you SOMETHING TO DRINK!!! We sat in front of the ordering station, and the manager - who was constantly entering orders from it, never looked our way. Nothing. The food was fine, but service is a big part of enjoying a meal, and we've been burned too many times by this establishment to ever consider returning. Our experience at the Garland Cheddar's is typically very cordial and attentive - I'm guessing management at the Mesquite store doesn't stress service - to their detriment. It's a nice place, but the act of having a meal there is an exercise in frustration.
Service keeps diminishing. When this place first opened here in mesquite, Service was fast and wonderful. It seems that the more time goes by the worst it gets. Hostess never smile anymore and its been a handful of times when they just forget about seating us. Some waiters are nice but most seem bored with their jobs. The food always takes forever to get to the table...... I think its time for a new manager, or for corporate to seriously evaluate this place.
The only real complaint that I have is that the hostesses should be a little more fun and outgoing instead of acting like they wish they were in a better mood. However, the wait staff was great. The waitress that we had should probably learn the menu a little bit better so that she can better answer peoples questions about how certain things are prepared. But she did not do a bad job at all. She was very nice and had a lot of big smiles. She checked on us often and seemed eager to please. As far as the food, it was cooked perfectly and tasted excellent. Due to the skills of the chef, and the attitude and personality of the waitress, I gave this restaurant a five star rating. I only wish that more of the "satisfied" people would post reviews online, because it seems that most of the time the only people that post online reviews are the dissatisfied people, which is really not fair to the people who are reading online reviews to help them choose a restaurant.
This is probably one of the cheapest restaurants with a sit down dining experience & we love it. We enjoy everything on the menu but i love the monte cristo & pain killer. This location is very busy so there was a long wait to be seated, however our food came pretty fast, a manager stopped to visit & check on us during our meal, & our waiter entertained us & kept our drinks full. Keep up the great job.
Horrible I tried to order to go and was left on hold for over 20 minutes on 2 different phone lines!
