My family just moved here a month ago. We have been here 4 times. The food and service are down home and superb I personally love the pull pork nachos. My wife luvs the french dip. We have told all of our Mckinney friends about this gem in lil ole Anna.
The guy that owns this place treats his people and the customers badly. The turnover in wait people and some customers attests to this. The idea behind this place was good for the area was good but, the management had always been bad news. I do not go there because of this.
Too many bad experiences there.. but it has great potential for the right management. Service and quality is lacking.
Fried green tomatoes are fried PICKLED tomatoes (gawd, thought I'd hurl) and the Reuben, which should have been a cinch (recipes are on the web, ya'll) was disgusting. The pastrami had every bit of fat that had come in on it, apparently they are too busy to trim it even as much as a deli would. The sauerkraut was in a lump in the middle of the sandwich, there was (makes me gag to think of it) white American cheese on it (we can get Swiss cheese in Texas now) and there was no (I mean NONE) thousand island dressing. Plus, it was on freaking white bread. For the prices charged, you can buy rye. Freeze the stuff if nobody orders it often enough. But don't call that a Reuben. It was a vomit-wich. Service was excellent. That's what the 2 stars are for, service. Food was gawd-awful.
We are delighted to have a new, clean, well thought-out restaurant in town. The prices are -very- reasonable. The portions are just fine, and you get more sides than I've had at any other comparable restaurant. We have been there 4 times in the last 2 months and have been very satisfied every single time. We finally don't have to go to McKinney to eat at a good restaurant. By the way, "anoymous" is insane.
