Traditional small town diner. Good food. Friendly service.

We had just ridden our bikes for 3 hours of cold, damp & windy riding, when we pulled in for gas in Monterey, TN. When I asked at the counter about any local restaurants that they could recommend the cashier said "yeah the cup & saucer". Go down to the stop light, turn right & you will see it on the left. As a biker, what he didn't tell me was that this was probably the friendliest restaurant I have ever eaten in, and the local chatter, and excellent service were only superceded by the great food. The owner of the restaurant came out, just to talk to us, but he also assured us that anything we ordered he would make fresh, and when the food arrived, it did not dissappoint any of us. He even had us sign the "out of town" guest book, and checked back with us several times. Not because it was his job, but because he truly "owns the business". If you are ever traveling the I-40 corridor between Nashville & Knoxville, this is a must stop cafe for you. Don't be fooled by the outside appearance that looks like it's 50 years old... It's probably been there at least 80 :)) Jackson
