Mirimichi Golf Course
Reviews
Played here twice on 9/27 and once 9/28. By far the best $80 golf course you may ever play. Course is in great condition, great layout, and the best greens you will never experience in Dallas. They were running 13.5 on the stint meter, while Glen Eagles during the Ryder Cup were running 10.5. This my 2nd time, and is now a yearly guys trip from Dallas. One of those tracks you must experience in your lifetime.
I understand that building and sustaining a golf course for JT might not have been his best investment.... that being said. This was my go-to golf course in the city, well worth driving 20 minutes to play and paying $80 to enjoy. Sadly this beautiful course has seen better days. After playing this past weekend for the first time since last year I noticed something isn't right. Here are a few of my observations: 1. The Range: Seeing weeds grow across the entire target area was strange. The 3 foot high weed growing up the pin at the green I was aiming at was an early sign that something is off. 2. The entire beauty of Mirimichi was well done through the idea that the local grasses take over the deep rough and hazards leaving the pristine fairways, greens, tee boxes traps and various sand areas strong. Sadly tees boxes, sand areas are struggling. After hitting the ball off dirt in a few sandtraps narrowly avoiding the weeds in traps, I knew this wasn' the Mirimichi of old. 3. Golf carts: One of the beauties of Mirimichi is that each cart was perfectly prepared with GPS, small hand towels, environmentally friendly tees, etc. too make sure your round was enjoyable. When I pulled out on four bald tires and a non-functioning GPS unit, I knew this was a different experience. When our cart had a blowout on hole 14 and the GPS didn't allow us to call the pro-shop for help we ditched it and hoofed it in through the rain. 4. Cost: All of the above and still we paid $80 which for the practice facility and course used to be the best deal in town, but now will make you think that one of the local intown public courses might be a better deal at half the price. 5. Hope: I have zero doubt that Mirimichi might be caught up in a rain storm and is fighting staffing issues or any other number of struggles that often plague golf courses. I desperately hope that the course will be back to its old standard for the city making me want to play more and proud to call it my home course. Greg King the club pro is a great teacher and I have no doubt that if possible he will righten the ship.
Played golf at Mirimichi on November 10, 2013. This was the second time I've played it. This most recent experience was a bit disappointing compared to the first time, which was a couple years ago. November 10th was a beautiful day and temps were near 70 degrees. The best thing about the course are the greens. They are immaculate and very fast. Some things that need improvement: It was almost impossible to putt on the putting green before the round due to the million leaves that were on the surface. For a course like this, you would think that maintenance staff would blow off the putting green each day during this time of year. I also was a little surprised that there was not a staff member out front to cart golf bags before and after the round. I was very disappointed in the selection of items in the pro shop. I wanted to purchase a new glove prior to my round and they only had callaway products. They seem to be an exclusive callaway dealer when it comes to golf gloves. At the turn, we went to the club house to grab a quick snack and a beverage and when we walked inside there was no one to be found to assist us, I mean NO ONE. We could have walked out with anything we wanted. We ended up just walking out because we couldn't get service. On top of that there was no beverage cart on the course that day for some reason. Plus there were several times during our round when staff members would come flying by in golf carts on their way somewhere and not even think of stopping until a member of our group had played their shot. No COURTESY or RESPECT for the golfers paying to play. Overall the course was in ok shape but not what it was when it first opened. There are alot of thin areas on the course and absolutely no rough to speak of. If I would not have had a gift card that I needed to use I would not have wasted my time driving to Mirimichi. Plus when I play at a place like Mirimichi I would expect better service all the way around. We always bring 8 players when we play here but for me personally this will be the last time I drive 1 1/2 hours to play here. There are a multitude of better courses for less money around.
I enjoyed the course very much. The lay out was great. I will definitely be going back.
Obviously Justin Timberlake's personal golf course is amazing
