I've had the pleasure to eat here on two occasions. I have to say that the food is good, but not great. The service is excellent and the food portions are appropriate. Their smoked pork chop is particularly good (highly recommended) as is their southern fried steak. The cornbread is a warm pancake, so that's a novel change. As to the side, the baked beans and the carrot souffle are a bit sweet for my liking, but very tasty. Do avoid the fresh sliced tomato dishes, however ... they prepare these in advance and then refrigerate them until the tomatoes are totally tasteless.
Good. Southern. Eats. Every time we decide to take a trip out to the country to eat at Bell Buckle Cafe and explore their small downtown and antique shops, etc., I must admit: I get a little excited. (I know, getting old...) BBC's food is excellent, and while their shop is small, and occasionally it might take a while to get you in and seated, once you're in there, you feel warm and comfortable, and ready to eat! There's a little area in the back where small bands or musicians can play a little while you eat, and this of course makes the experience while eating all the better. Highly recommend!
Eat here a lot. Yes once in awhile you might get a bad serving of something but 90% of the time its good. When coming here my go to meal is the smoked pork chop, have never had a bad chop here it may have been smaller or something like that but usually its like a small juicy steak. I have varied from that a couple times with the cat fish but nothing to me beats the taste of the chop. I also like the red beans and rice, cucumbers and tomato and new potatoes w/ 2 corn breads. You can't walk away after eating that and still be hungry.
We had a great time with our family. We were passing through the area with friends and stopped. I had to get the chicken fried steak- exactly what I expected and wanted. Great atmosphere too.
We have been often, LOVE it! everything about this place is awesome. The food is wonderful, the service is great, it can get crowded, though, but we go at off times so that is not a problem, we have never waited more than a couple of minutes. great place! For the person who was astonished at a "tip jar"...STAY HOME. this place is not for whiney spoiled people.
