Definitely one of the best restaurants in south Carolina if not the south east. The service was great and walking in felt like a portal into a European restaurant. The entire place was decorated expertly. The food was absolutely amazing and had so many different types it is great for anybody's palate. The portions were also huge and looked great on the plate. The atmosphere has both spectrums of a bar to very fine dining. I will be coming here for many years and highly recommend it to anyone.
The food and atomosphere are amazing and it's affordable! Whether you want to have an elegant meal in the restraunt part, sit down and chill in the casual dining, or have a few beers at the bar, the service is impecable. If you are looking for a good time, try going on tuesday nights and enjoy the trivia. Gerhards is family owned and they care about each and every one of their customers. I definitely recomend it. The filet is my personal favorite.
The place is located in an old strip mall but dint be put off by this, behind the doors is some truly good food. The menu is large. I have only been here a couple of times but the food was great. I had specials both times but I understand these are also regulars on the menu. I had appetizer of escargot it was cooked perfectly and oysters Rockefeller(some of the best I had outside of LA.). I had rack of Lamb in peppercorn sauce. This was the largest rack I've ever been served in a restaurant to my undoing I ate til I hurt. Soft Shell Crab in butter lemon (some of the best and freshest outside of LA.) Atmosphere inside is kinda playful. Don't dare eat outside or on the covered patio in the summer unless you plan is to sweat and be uncomfortable even with cool air blowers and fan. Nice fire place on covered outdoor area for winters. Will be back every time I go to spartanburg.
