Southside 17 Bar & Grill

We are still sitting in the bar as I write this. We have been here 3 times, wishing the meals would get better... our wish didn't come true. the "Kobe" burgers are a lie since real Kobe beef is rare in the states & very expensive. The crab cake sandwich is very filling , lots of bread in it, no real flavor except for the sauce. The service has been hit or miss all three times. If you want a beer and bar food, then the place is good. If you want good fresh food... please go elsewhere.
I stopped here on a saturday afternoon, there was only a few people at tables the bar was covered up with regulars. The waitress passed my table at least 4 times and never said a word, she did joke and stand by the bar with the regular customers for a while. I waited about 8 - 10 minutes while she walked back and forth then I left. I will not go back, the place looked clean but bare walls, old looking tables with no atmosphere at all.
Gotta have a burger! Had lunch and was really impressed with the Frontier & Old Blue Eyes Burgers. Mac & Cheese was poor and the CO2 was out for the rather large selection of tap beer. Had a few bottle beers with the burgers and left full. Prices seemed high for a strip mall pub.
Fun little neighborhood spot. Wings yes, great beer on tap, awesome fries, always a cool band.
If you haven't checked out Southside 17 yet, you should go soon! It's about time we had a local spot in West Ashley that had great live music and plenty of big TV's to watch all the great sporting events. Not to mention, the food is great! I love the shrimp, it's caught here locally. Great job all the way around!
