Okatie Ale House

Dinner on a Tuesday evening at 6:30pm...one baby and two adults. Golf carts abound in the parking lot, restaurant was filled with retirees and several vacationing families. Service efficient and polite, seated in 5 minutes and received our order 15 minutes later. I had the 8oz. burger and a Guinness, wife ordered the crab cake grilled with fruit and fries. Delicious food, excellent atmosphere, friendly staff! Planning on making this a vacation tradition, especially since its walking distance from our hotel!
Just visited it yesterday... I had the fish and chips... my wife had a hamburger. My fish and chips was a very, very small portion of fish with a whole lot of fries. The fish was tasteless and the accompanying cole slaw was room temp at best.. certainly not cold... I saw other things that came out of the kitchen that looked good... but I can say... leave the fish and chips to other restaurants... and try something else....
I work locally near Okatie Ale House. I am a very loyal customer and my co-workers and I eat there at least 3-4 times a week for lunch. Today on Veteren's Day, we decided to get all the Veteren's together and have lunch. There are 8 that work with me. After our meal, it was brought to the server's attention that we were all Veteren's. She didn't seem to care and did not offer or give any type of discount on our check. Not even a "thank you for your service". I find that to be very un-patriotic and honestly, disrespectful. I will not be eating at the ale house anymore.
I wish I had come out here & read the reviews before wasting my money. The food was bland at best & the service was awful. No need to be back here.
Always enjoy the lunches. Gotta have the crab corn chowder.
