Best coffee shop I've ever visited. The owner, Eric, is wonderful - outspoken. FUNNY, always ready to share coffee info (and tell you how to run your life, while he's at it). He roasts all his own coffee and makes all his own blends. We buy all our coffee there, send his coffee as gifts, and go there as often as we can to drink coffee and hang out with the "cast of characters" that regularly congregates. It's not a place for the uptight, nose-in-the-air person, but we love his coffee and the conversations there. cp and rp
I always support small business. I ask for a triple espresso and get a watered down coffee with an espresso shot. And was assured it was a triple. Wow
If you enjoy artisan coffee & have time to kill, than please visit. However, the owner is a nasty gruff & has no problem speaking his mind to his paying customers. Also, an ancient hated kitty has free range of the building...& your coffee. Finally, seating is limited & usually commendered by old farts who hate anyone born after 1976. I'm surprised the 2012 RNC wasn't held here...
Merlin's Cafe is an intriguing instance, tucked away in the little town of Hanover. Its decor consists of cat memorabilia, cat photos, and... well, a cat. It's a small building, the sort of café that tends to attract a crowd of eccentric regulars. And as that goes, it is quite successful in doing so. The owner, Eric, is a gruff but well-intentioned fellow, maybe not serving coffee with a smile, but a smirk at the very least. One look at the back-left wall will tell the astute observer of his political views quite clearly. As for the menu, it offers drinks of varieties both piping hot and pleasantly chilled, as well as various donuts, for an inexpensive fee. Overall, the coffee shop offers a typical coffee-shop experience, and the price is alright, considering. For the Guide, this is Alex, signing off.
Definitely knows how to make a cup of coffee. Wish there was wi-fi, but maybe I missed it?
